I think he can be a little cocky at times, but no more than others. I just think he shows his emotions more than some. If you hear him talking off court, though, he comes across as a genuinely nice guy.
What makes me like him, in fact, is his humility off the court. When that hotel fire happened in Rome, Roddick was hailed by many for his efforts in helping other guests climb down to his balcony where they would be safe from the blaze. But Roddick has never tried to capitalize on that heroic deed, and actually has rarely mentioned it. He's also been in a couple of high-profile relationships, but you don't hear about him being an ***, or getting in trouble off the court for any reason.
As for his kissing the court after winning in Cincy, I don't blame him. It's been a while for him, and I'm sure it was sweet for him.

i do not even comprehend why Andy were given mad on the umpire. it really is his own damn fault that he were given the violation. Roddick's sport has been on the decline for a pair years now, yet we've not fairly said because he's continuously been to the 2d week of the major tournaments. Now that he lost early in his first tourney because that Wimbledon, his weaknesses are fairly being exploited. i don't believe of he has that many years left in him (2 if fortunate). he's basically going to flow around the 20-40 spots for something else of his occupation and per chance basically win a 500 or 250 identify. i'm happy that the rustic has a representative in the right 10 who isn't a headcase. **also, Roddick will drop out of the right 20 next week. He hasn't been outdoors the right 20 because that 2001 both. so as that definately has something to assert about Roddick's slide. Andy also has comprehensive the three hundred and sixty 5 days contained in the right 10 because that 2006. Byebye Andy

A-Rod (as he is known in the tennis world) is slowly regaining his confidence and swagger. I don't personally know him so it is hard to say if he is arrogant. Does he appear to be arrogant? No, not from the behaviors I have observed.
Perhaps you are referring to his most recent tournament victory? I do know he was gracious in victory, thanking the tournment sponsors and giving his opponent credit for a great week in the post tournament interviews. It is very important for Andy to be aggressive and confident on the court. He has to elude a positive attitude...it's part of the game and potentially gives him an advatage if he can intimidate his opponents. The mental game definitely comes into play in a one-on-one sport such as tennis.
Recently Roddick hired Jimmy Connors to join his camp and assist his brother with coaching. Connors has likely instructed Roddick to be more emotional and aggressive...that was Connor's style. I think what was witnessed this weekend was a bit of the Jimbo influence.

He can be. His game hasn't been great as of late. Because fo all the commercials the run started in September. He lost in the first round of the US. Open (I believe that he lost to Gilles Muller). That started the trend. He had only made two finals before this one. I think he was cocky about beating Murray. Even though he hadn't beat Murray before that victory and Murray's coach was Roddick's ex-coach Brad Gilbert (they have a rocky relationship).

Yes I do. Well here's a quote from Roddick: "I'm going to play well. Right now I like my chances as much as anybody not named Roger" He's just one single tourney and he just starts blaberring abt it. I think arrogent would be a bit of an understatement. Soon he'll come crashing down from his new found 'status' and he'll be crying again.

Actually, he is more confident than arrogant, with the exception of his match with Murray. He needed to be arrogant in that match in order to win, because he had already lost twice to Murray this year. He's actually a good guy on the court...he even apologizes to his opponent when he feels that he had offended them in some way i.e. his 3rd round match in Cincy with Vliegen, he apologized for going to the towel boy when Vligen was about to serve.

I never picked up on that. He is defiantly confident. I saw him on that show punked once and he got tagged pretty well and was a good sport about it. If he was a bit to arrogant the problems of the last year or so would have knocked him down a peg.

no. i mean, maybe he can be at times, just like anyone else. but he's a great player who is just having a bum year right now. he knows he is good enough to beat some of these guys, but since he hasn't, he may come off to be a bit arrogant, but i don't think he really is.
