Isn't it funny how the annual 'Auld Enemy' fixture was scrapped and also how England never arrange friendlies against Scotland despite being their nearest neighbour?

Regardless of the great difference of the FIFA rankings, I think one of the goals of international friendlies is to get used to the other team's style of play. This is evident in the friendlies prior the World Cup after the groups have been drawn. England for instance, played Jamaica (anticipating Trinidad Tobago), and Uruguay (Paraguay). So since scotland type of play is similar to England, it is not really good from strategic point of view.
By the way, England vs Scotland used to be a very heavy rivalry. But the last time these teams met is 1999. They have met more than 110 times in friendlies and competitive matches since 1872. Probably they just got sick of playing amongst themselves. :)

England could wipe the floor with them anyday, even with a reserve team. They'd get a better match playing against themselves. When was the last time Scotland qualified for a major tournment, well after they fail to get to Euro 2008 it will be 10 years, if thats not proof of there crapness (if thats a word) I don't know what is.
Scotland have Fletcher as the captain and he is absolutely crap, and I'm also pretty sure Wales is just as close to England as Scotland is.

I think we should play them as often as the US play Mexico. That way England should be number 2 or 3 in the world instead of Mexico.
