No...it's not an excuse, it's a condition...yes, it's very real...women's hormone levels change during the month, that's a fact...it affects different women in different ways...that's a fact...just as menopause is a real thing, and the mood swings and physical symptoms that occur during that aren't typically questioned by anyone...yet PMS symptoms are...it's all still hormone issues...

Why are older women allowed to have PMS (POST menstrual syndrome...or menopause) but menstruating women's hormone fluctuations aren't supposed to affect them at all?

Now...you didn't specify an excuse for what...so the full answer to your question would depend on what someone is attempting to excuse...mood swings? Skipping work or a function due to severe cramps? What...what are we being asked to consider excusing?

Yes. It is a proven fact that hormone levels can vary wildly at certain times of the month and our bodies reaction to these fluctuations can vary wildly as well. Hormones influence almost every aspect of the human behavior; be it men or women and with women have more fluctuations in theirs, it can cause a host of unpleasant side effects. Just like when a woman gets pregnant and can get very emotional....it's hormones. But there are medications that can help alleviate the symptoms. It's just as miserable being the one with PMS as having to live with someone with PMS...just ask my kids. LOL

YES. Some people can experience severe mood disorders every month.
I know several women who become weepy, depressed, easily angered when they have PMS. When I have it, I am often overcome by a desire to cry over really little things, it's bizarre.
My friend has it alot more severely though. she's a sweet person but when she has PMS she become violently angry over nothing. And it's not an excuse just to go haywire. I HATE feeling this way every month and so does she.

PMS is more than a genuine excuse,it's a warning to anyone foolish enough to try and push their luck.

As a woman with serious female "monthly" issues. Its a "REAL" thing and its not an excuse for bad behavior.

We are responsible for our own behavior no matter our physical/ emotional conditions. Yet, compassion by others for such serious issues is a human necessity. We need more understanding about these very serious and painful things.
