When replying to emails or making a blog entry with my phone, I have only 400 characters to work with. Why?

After 200 the time between keypress and the characters appearance on the screen gets longer, up to 1.5 +/- seconds. Does anybody else have this problem?

The browser on your phone is probably refreshing the whole text string after each keypress, echoing it back from their servers to your phone. That is also the likely reason that text boxes on the phone's browser are limited to 400 characters.
