I'm a local coffee shop supporter and I think everyone else should be too. Starbucks is the wal-mart of coffee shops, they are taking out the little guy and making crappy coffee, and so far I have only been able to find one blend that starbucks makes that is fair trade. Any way let me know what you think, and if you agree go out there and support your local coffee shop.

Their "blend" is not really fair trade. They put a ridiculously small percentage of it in the blend and then can label it fair trade. One of my friends owns a local coffee shop and does pretty good with the college crowd. He roasts daily on premises and uses only fair trade.

The majority of people are ignorant of such things and care only about cost. Just look at the parking lots of all the walmarts and starbucks.

Yep! Starbucks makes me sick, just the way they try to monopolize everything. Why do they need a outlet every 3 blocks, it's crazy where I live. All I flippin see are Starbucks and McD's everywhere! I don't even drink coffee but yeah I'm all for the little shops. Corporate hogs are exaclty what the people who run the Starbucks company are. If they have so much money, why don't they open up some different kinds of businesses and let some other coffee shops survive as well?

I do not agree with you.
1. local coffee shops buy cheap coffee and sell it to you same price as good stuff and two they are not coffee specialist.
2. Starbucks sell coffee. they know what they are doing and when I buy from them I at lease know they always use good beans and not the cheap stuff.
3. If my local coffee shop offer good coffee and reasonable price I would buy from them since there is always a big line at Starbucks but I have yet to find a good Coffee shop around that offers good coffee. If I am going to pay for coffee I want the good stuff not the cheap 1 a pound beans most local places sell. I would try out a new place if it opens but if they dont offer good coffee I wont go back again. So I do give them a shot its their own fault if they can't offer good coffee for our money.

My local coffee shop has coffee ten times better than Starbucks. I don't think that means Starbucks needs shutdown -- but I think people should definitely give the little guy a chance. If you try the local coffee shops you'll probably be surprised to find the quality and service are much better.

I don't agree that they should be shut down.

I DO agree that competition should exist, it is a good thing where everyone wins. When it works, the consumer gets better quality for less money.

I agree that the quality of their coffee is inferior to many others. But people still use them, they give choice, they have the best locations and they are efficient. I believe it is close to becoming a monopoly and the only way to stop it is to produce competition even if that mean having another 'Superpower' company running against them.

Could you name a coffee that tastes just as good as some of the Starbucks brands?

No way! I absolutely disagree. Starbucks revitalizes neighborhoods, provides lower-income individuals with health insurance (unheard of in most other companies), and supports a number of charitable causes. They are conscious of social, environmental, and economic impacts in the communities where they do their business.
