The majority of the northern states did not use slaves. It was mostly the southern states. And it was a white man (Abraham Lincoln) who fought with, and stud up for them. Why would they place the blame on white Americans in general? Isn't that racist itself. What are your views?

I am not saying that all black Americans feel this way in no way shape or form. If you object you can word it in a civilized way?

I'm not racist. I love everyone. I just wonder what the rest of America thinks of this issue.

I often think the same thing. It also ticks me off that Black's are so wrapped up in BLACK slavery...believe it or not, there WERE white slaves, Chinese slaves, Japanese slaves, Native American slaves, Hispanic slaves and even white-European slaves.

They concentrate so much on it because its an easy out for them. Its an easy excuse. I might just post my own question on this...

I'm very aware of the percentage of Americans who owned slaves. It was just a few. But do white americans ever consider the benifits they have from being white in America and the fact that because they look like slave owners they get a lot of privilledges that people who do not look like them don't get. And Abraham Lincoln freeing the slaves had very little to with the slave or a moral feeling that slavery was wrong; it was about him trying to control the south.

So as far as being racist goes, we all are to a certain extent.

As a black person, I have to honestly say that in my 33 yrs of life, it never crossed my mind that not all white Americans had slaves back in the slavery times. I don't fault all white people. As a matter of fact, I really don't blame today's society for what happened hundreds of years ago, but I am aware that racism is very much alive. Slavery may have ended years ago but some people both white and black still have a slave mentality meaning that some white people that I have had contact with consider themselves superior to all other races, especially blacks. And some black people that I have met harbor great hatred for "The Man". Some of my fellow black people will use any excuse possible to excuse their poor decision making and choices in life. I long for the day that Dr. King's dream of people being judged by the content of their character as opposed to the color of their skin is upon but it is not here yet. Not as long as The KKK still exists. Not as long as gangs kill off their own people. Not as long as a black person has to work twice as hard as their white counterpart to get half the respect of their co-worker. Not as long as there are still segregated areas in the U.S. and there are. I graduated from a small, rural town where the population is about 50/50. Well, if there were about 750 people at my school, less than 25 were white. The white children went to the local private school or were transported to another county. This is sad but true. So no, I never thought about some whites not having slaves but it makes perfect sense. All people of any race should not be boxed into a single category because there is goodness and evil in all races.

i realize that not all white people owned slaves back then and many were opposed to slavery. but it's wrong to think than northern whites didn't have slaves. in fact few years back when a construction company was breaking ground in New York for a new building they found a mass grave. it was discovered that these indeed were the bodies of african slaves. it's true that eventually the north became a safe place for blacks, and we should appreciate that there were white people who were willing to risk everything to make that possible...north and south.

i personally hold no grudge with white people. i have to believe that we that we've grown as a culture and have learned enough not to make the same mistake again.

hope that was some help.

The incidences of "rape" in its technical experience became into uncommon between slave proprietors and female slaves. The vast majority have been consensual because of the fact kinfolk between the two meant an stronger existence for the female slave. She may well be allowed to stay in the main remarkable abode, have advantageous clothing, greater desirable foodstuff, greater elementary paintings responsibilities, etc. So thinking how complicated a slave's existence became into already, having sexual kinfolk with the slave proprietor meant an stronger existence for her and the youngsters she might have along with her grasp.

It's just a generalization.
People know that all white people didn't own slaves. The whole point is that SOME white people did own slaves and that is enough for some black people to have a hang up.
It's the same situation with Jewish people and German. The truth is most German people thought Hitler was crazy but the few that thought he was God was enough for some Jewish people to have a hang up with German people.

The race card and ancestral guilt are convenient cards to play whenever something does not go in the desired direction. If you don't agree with, for example, Jesse Jackson, then it because you're a racist. On the other hand Mayor Ray Nagin can talk about a "chocolate city" without a word being said.
Its hypocrisy.

It's not always about slavery, all white people in America were segregating African-Americans in the 40's and 50's the only time slavery is contemporary and relevant is in reperations, which are researched. I'm sure many African-Americans note that the country wasn't covered in slavery.

It does not matter to the black who is complaining. He just wants to complain and blame our ancestors. One of my African friends says her ancestors ran faster than these American Black's ancestors.
Actually her ancestors probably won the battle and sold the losers. Slavers did not go into dark jungles looking for cargo. They stayed on the beach waiting for delivery by blacks.
Most Palestinians were not born in Palestine. Most immigrants to a new country become wealthier than the natives in twelve years. If the complainer would work and save for twelve years just as an immigrant would, then he too would probably be richer than most Americans.

Picture in your mind the photos of whites with hanging black people
behind them and I think you will see where the anger comes from. Read books on slavery and how the people were tortured and abused and I think you will understand.
I'm white and I feel their rage, but I also understand it. My ancestors didn't come here to the states until the early 1900's so we never had slaves in our family, but how do black people know that?
Another way is to imagine yourself in their shoes and then see how you would feel.
Also--why don't avator's come in different colors? I don't see any hispanic one's or black one's, do you?
