Do you remember the movie "Pay It Forward", with Haley Joel Osment? It was about this kid who came up with an idea for helping people. Each person was supposed to help 3 other people, and then in turn those 3 people would help another 3 people each. lol, ok i dont think i explained that very well...but maybe you guys remember the movie? :)
Ok, so my question is...after watchin that movie, did any of you want to re-think or change your life-philosophy? Or was it somethin you would have done anyway?

I never saw the movie and I heard it was very sad. I understand the basic concept behind the movie which kind of reminds me of a pyramid scheme but in a good way. When I help people I don't do it because I expect each person to help 3 others. You never know what that person will do with the help they receive. When I give a homeless person some money to buy food, it would be nice to think that person in turn helps 3 other people but there is no guarantee. It is a great idea though and if people did that the world would be a much better place!

After that movie, the only thought thing that kept on bothering me for weeks was "how do i ever watch The Sixth Sense" again now and not be so sickened by the mere site of Haley Joel Osment? What a waste...

Yes I remember that movie, actually, I have that movie. I used to have a crush on him when I was younger, so I have a lot of his movies (he is about a month older than me, but I don't have a crush on him anymore). I really liked the movie and I thought it would be a good idea to have everyone "pay it forward" but it didn't change my life-philosophy. I try to be as nice to people as I can and I like to be able to help people when I can.

I kind of liked the movie at the time, but that idea would never work.

Why would anybody want an overabundance of good deeds going on, unless they didn't want to do any good deeds themselves, and they could capitalize on it. Think about it.

If one person does one good thing to another, that person can pass one on to the next person. That way everybody gives and everybody receives.

If everybody did 3 good things, you'd have way too many good things going on. And why is that a bad thing? Because good work takes hard work and resources, and we'd just end up working really hard for a year, then being lazy for 3 years.

I was inspired by the movie but the inspiration didn't last long enough for me to actually do the pay-it-forward thing. Although, we all do it now and then, just not on a regular basis. I think it actually works.

Haley Joel Osment must have forgotten to pay-it-forward the day he got arrested.

I had never really thought about it before in the way that was portrayed in that movie. But I did pay more attention to trying to help other people after watching the movie. And I have found that what you do to help others usually comes back to you many times over.

when I was much younger there was a time when my mother had to come and help me quite a bit because I had a new born baby and another of my children had surgery etc. etc.. One day I said to her "how am I ever going to pay you back for all your help?" Her response was "Honey, I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing this for my mother" (my grandmother had died 12 years before that) That was the first time I ever heard anyone express the concept "pay it forward" That was in 1973 and it has had a significant effect on my life.

I have seen the movie and I was very moved by it.....

I try to help people anyway but I often find that it doesn't necessarily prove much good to the other person....You can't always help those who don't want to be helped....they have to want that for themselves.

The entire concept of the movie is just that, a concept...most people tend to want to want to help themselves and nobody else....We lack that humanitarian nature we need to make society a truly good place to live in with one another....

I saw the movie and it was inspiring. It makes you think. My philosophies are similar, but it does help to remind you of what is important when you lose sight of those ideals. It's a good rule to live by. Help others when you have benefitted from being helped. I like it.

I thought the movie was great.Too bad everyone doesn't live tha that way. One good turn usually leads to another. Of course the old saying one bad apple can spoil a bunch. I myself would do it anyway.
