i know a lot of variables effect the answer that you will get, such as word length or pressure used when writing. this is just an average number.

There are too many variables left to answer. What are you writing on, is it the same word over and over or different words, what is the length of the word, how hard do you normally press a pencil when you write, what is the exact length that it was sharpened to before begining, how often will it be resharpened as the writing progresses...
The list goes on.

It depends if you sharpen it, and how sharp it is to begin with. But it will also depend on the surface you are writing on, since a smooth surface will have less friction with the lead and therefore use less of it. Also depends on how hard do you press the pencil unto the paper, and how big is the word is. It will also depend how hard is the lead. You have too many variables to obtain a precise answer to you question.

It depends if you're one of those crazy sharpener people. Plus, how long the words are and if it's a #1 2 or 3. The softer the pencil, the less words.

honeybeesbizzz, it really depends upon what size pencil you are talking about, but if you are speaking of the widely used Number 2 pencil than you can write 1,324,546 words before you run out of lead, of course depending on your skill and knowledge of the English (or whatever language) you are using you may run out of eraser long before and therefore have to get a new pencil and your question is moot.

I don't think there's an exact answer. Some people write harder or lighter than others, which would affect the lead being used.
