steam cleaner,. in order to pull the stain out,..
just putting soap and water and pressing on it, well that will cause a stain too...
cleaner needs to be out as well....

why would you want to clean the dirt ON your couch. to clean it OFF the couch it depends. if its leather use a lether cleaner, if its cloth the best way is to rent a steam cleaner.

Use a damp rag soaked in soapy laundry detergent water and gently wipe it off.

Definitely a steam cleaner. (spray some spray n wash on there first)
