Go to start/all programs/accessories/command prompt and type "help".

a DOS command is a command in the DOS (Disk Operating System) interface.
In win XP, go to start>all programs>accessories>command prompt
OR, start>run>type cmd>run
in the dialogue box that appears, type any command. that's an (invalid most likely) DOS command

Even in window you can type dos commands, go start, run then type command or cmd, it will take you to dos prompt,

example' dir /p ' would give you a list of files in a directory pausing when the screen was full until you hit a key
