First, right click on the Computer icon on your desktop, and go to Properties. In the Properties window, click on the Hardware tab, and then on the Device Manager button. Any hardware that doesn't have a driver or isn't working right will have a big yellow question mark beside it. That's how you can verify that the driver is the problem.
Go to the website of your PC manufacturer, go to Support and Downloads, and search for the audio drivers for your model. They may even have an auto-detect feature that will scan your PC and determine what's needed.
After you download and install the drivers, go back to Device Manager as shown above and see if the yellow question marks are all gone. You may have to reboot before everything works.

You need:
1. A sound card
2. Correct drivers for the sound card installed
3. Speakers, and a microphone if you want to talk to it.

there are soo many things to this. right click on my computer go to properties, then hardware (if you have xp) then device manager see what is there under sound, video and game controllers. if there is something there and there is no (!) beside is then your drivers are fine and you need to start looking at the programs, volume and power to speakers

you need to know what sound card you have .. and then get the driver for it ... if you don't have the original cd driver for it ... try to open the case, and see the name and model of the sound card .. and search the card's company for thr driver .. you might get lucky

~ look at the back of your PC and connect the cables

Yeah. Get it from your resource or download it from the internet (from your sound card manufacturer's site and you can get it from there).
