you are just turned around. It happens easily to young people because your day is longer than 24 hours. So each day you stay up a bit later and get up a bit later. Also young people's clocks just run later anyway. This changes starting in your twenties and continues to change untill you are old and have to sleep twice a day. Have a regular schedule of work or school helps.
Another thing that helps is sleeping with the shades open. You won't get the same kind of sleep when the sun is shining on you that you will get when it is dark. After some time your body will naturally reset to sleep when it is dark. Also stay off the computer late at night. That bright screen will keep you up. Turn the lights off or down a couple hours before bed time.
Also avoid taking any napps within like 8 or 10 hours of bed time. If you are sleepy get up and clean or go for a walk. Spending time with kids is a good way to stay awake too.
Try having sex when you want to sleep during the day. That will keep you up. Aslo the activity will make you more tired and better able to sleep later.

If you been this way for a while then your body could be used to sleeping in the day and awake at night. Try staying up as long as you can. Don't go to sleep through the day and when you can't take it no more go to sleep at night time. Then your body can get used to sleeping at night. I have that same problem a lot of times.

Two possible reason;
1. Afraid of the dark; Maybe you are not afraid from the dark physically but once you are there in your bedroom, maybe alone or wth some1else, you feel that some1 is watching you. Not human but somethinelse. This all happens as we called as our mind game. Though you may deny that you are not afraid of the dark, or even ghost, but your brain plays such a game that it is not relax, when its not relax how can a person sleep.
What i suggest you to do is; though this may sound stupid/childish but praying before you sleep really helps(thanking the lord for the wonderful day or complaining to god about the lousy day, etc) and drink one glass of red wine before you sleep, this will help you to relax you nerves. Remember one glass not one bottle. Aromatheraphy also helps to relax your brain, lavender, rosemary and opium aroma really helps to sleep, my fav. is opium.
2. Maybe you are so used to sleeping at the day, you just cannot sleep atnite. Unless you work atnite, other then that it would be wise to create a now routine of sleeping at nite, which will be good for you as a whole.
