Many states allow it with proper permits, but you also have to check your county and city laws. If it is a local species you may be breaking a law by keeping an endangered species(HUGE fines, plus, sometimes a felony) If it is an exotic species, you need to get antivenim and keep it up to date. If your snake escapes and/or bites someone, you are legally responsible. You need good insurance coverage. There is alot to know about keeping "hots", and you asking this question means you are not ready! As luck would have it, Reptiles mag just put out their annual hot issue, and will give you lots of good info on keeping venomous reptiles. You can find it at most pet stores. Also check out www.kingsnake.com, you can get lots of info there, and find lots of links to other good sites.

You need a permit. Besides if someone comes over and gets bit you will be in for a world of trouble. They could sue and win.

you would need to ask your local Fish and Game on that one. I am guessing that you need a special permit to own one.
Pretty risky owning one. No room for errors.

I don't know if its allowed or not, but I wouldn't recommend it. your neighbors will probably kick up quite a fuss if they find out. most do.
