the post is too short, you will need to go to a piercing studio and get proper jewelry for your ears...they will be able to put them in for you, and yes it will be painful. DO NOT remove the jewelry if you suspect an infection, this can trap it and cause an abcess-which you COULD loose your ear as everyone keeps saying. The earrings should not be twisted, the healing skin, a fistula, is being damaged and allowing bacteria into the piercing. The crusties need to be removed after you've soaked your ears, in a solution of 1/4 tsp sea salt (grocery store-NOT TABLE SALT) and 8oz warm water, using a q-tip. wash your hands before touching your piercing for ANY reason.

schmushe has the best & honest answer, truely. this happened to both me & my sister. Your ear wont fall off for christs sake!
If the salt water & twisting doesnt help after a week, then definatly go back to where you had it done. There are also great ointments you can buy in spray form, these you should be ably to purchase at a chemist.
Oh & dont pick the crusty scab off! Gross I know, but it will come off itself, the reason you have the ring is probably due to the tearing of the skin when you pick the crusty yuk off. Poor bugger :o)

It possible that you may be allergic to the earrings that you have. First I would make sure that your earrings are made from surgical steel. If not, get some. Those are proven to be the best and no one is allergic to them. As far as the rest, don't sleep on that side of your head and clean it everyday-twice a day...religiously. Do not forget to clean it. Keep it up til it clears. My ears were sensitive too. You have to force your body to accept the earrings.

i had to change my earring right after i got it pierced, too, because it got infected. you have to take the earring out and have the one you want to put in (make sure it's still a piercing size) and put it in immediately. be prepared for some pain because the hole will close a little. make sure you keep in really clean and put an antibacterial cream (like neosporin) on it a few times a day. if it looks like it's getting more infected, take it out and get it pierced again later.

OMG, this happened to a friend of mines except she didnt notice until both her ears "swallowed" her earrings, she had to get them removed under the knife. I suggest you dont wear your earrings for a day and constantly put ear antiseptic on it all day. The next day, if it gets better, put your earring back in both ear holes to make sure it hasnt closed, then keep putting on ear antiseptic and ointment on it until it has healed. (also i suggest a larger pair of earrings that wont get "swallowed")

Turns out I was allergic to gold under 18K. It also only affected one ear. I had to take out that one earring and use an 18k earring. Ears were fine after that. Keep putting ointment

go back to where you got your ears pierced and ask them if they know anything. clean it off with a bit of neosporin and if it doesnt get better within a few days remove the earring and go to your doctor !

you should go back to the place that pierced your ear. They should be able to give you a bigger earring.
