The simplest way is to search for whatever terms you want to be at the top at and then look at the content of the first ranking website. Of course, you can't copy the content (by which I mean the code - i.e. HTML, PHP, etc.) as it's probably covered by copyright but see how often the search term appears. Be careful though as even though that site is at the top of the ratings now, if Yahoo, Google or whoever decide they are not playing 'fair' then they and you might disappear from the rankings. You might also find some help pages on the search engine web site to increase your ratings. The number of other sites that link to yours for example is often cited as a factor.

You can send your website address to the search engine like google but it need lots of traffic on your site to put your site on the first list of google search page. So you have to wait your site to be lots of visitors to make it rank on the first page, if not your webpage maybe there but youll probably cannot see it. It will be in the last ranking and hard for others to found your website. At least you can try to put it in there!
Here the link for google search engine:-

http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

Just put the url link and description and you ready to go.

Don't mention it as a source on here - that's spam! It will of course get the bots to visit your site and get you on the search engine! Alternatively, you could surf to my website - get my email and join my web ring. You give me a link on your website and send me visitors and I give you a link on my website and send you visitors and of course when the spiderbots visit my site they will follow the link to your site. Spiderbots are about 9% of the visitors at the moment. I forget what my counter is on, about 5000 hits I think; so the spiderbots have visited about 450 times. The Yahoo one visits about once a week now, i think. Type my nick into yahoo or Google and you will find all my stuff on the net. having a unique name/keyword helps. This should be a top answer - I haven't had one for days!

Go to www.submitexpress.com and submit your website URL to all search engines.

Open a blog at blogger.com, which belongs to Google. Then have links from your blog to your site.

As an example, see http://ezdough.blogspot.com
