Think of all your interests & ask yourself if any of those could be expanded into a business. Just keep in mind...what's your expertise? What are your interests? What could you imagine yourself doing?

By researching the prospect of starting your own business -- what it entails, what you need to know, helpful hints, etc -- you'll feel better prepared to take that plunge.

I found some book titles that are relevant to your specific question:

* 101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home by Susan Sweeney
* The Best Home Businesses for the 21st Century by Paul Edwards
* Selling Online: How to Become a Successful E-Commerce Merchant by Jim Carroll

* The Best Internet Businesses You Can Start by Marian Betancourt
* The Shoestring Entrepreneur's Guide to Internet Start-Ups by Robert Spiegel
* Making a Living Without a Job : Winning Ways For Creating Work That You Love by Barbara Winter

I also posted some article links in the source box.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

I would start off by doing the e-bay thing I am not sure how it works exactly but people browse e-bay all the time and just get in mind of what you will enjoy selling. After you are comfortable with e-bay then i will seek and research about a home base business.
hope this give you an idea.

Be careful. There are a lot of "work from home" scams out there.

If you have a craft that you like making. try selling a few on ebay first and see wha the market's like. Also see if there any gift stores in your area that would sell work from local craftspeople on consignment. Good luck.

If you are in to making crafts you can sell them at craft shows or have an "at home show" at you house in the evening and sell your items to friends and neighbors.
Items that go over big are cutsy kids things and if you are a young mother, I am sure you have many friends who will buy them. Have you tried making beaded socks for little girls? That is a hot item.

Anything, absaloutly anything at all.

story time:
a not so close relative of mine while at school actually paid attention in woodwork class and started making wooden stools with woven tops. he sold these to the village, everyone wanted at least one, but the market folded when everyone had all they wanted. then he made wooden chests (i think) and so it went on. As far as i can remember he has sold the most of the furniture companies he started and kept just 1 as something to do.

so, a market, but limited by local demand, things are different now, we have eBay.
just have a look at what is sold on eBay and how easy it is

Beeswax candles are inexpensive to make and very easy. You can make them and package them to look pretty, then sell them on consignment to gift or gallery stores. Also, in many places it is very difficult for plus-sized women to find nice clothing. If you can sew you can make some or repair used items and sell them on E-bay. Also, if you're a cook and your town has a farmer's market, pies, cakes, and canning are always popular.

Try making inexpensive jewelry that people can seel for at flea markets. You can buy the pieces and parts and put them togther. Try Beading magazines for these things.

Or how about making fine soaps at home? Lots of place on the net for how to do this.

It depends on your skills. The most common are:
- plastic/wooden/beaded jewelery
- plushy cushions
- elegant pottery
- cute custom clothes for children, babies
- wool scarves

Can't think about any more. It would help if you gave a little info about what you would be capable of doing =) Good luck

consider a consignment shop, maybe arts and crafts. that way, your inventory is filled with the talents and creativity of others, while you can concentrate on the business end of the thing. just a thought.
