I've heard this song a zillion times, and recently heard it again on an "all 80's weekend" on a local radio station. What is he talking about?

Just for the sake of being different, I'm going to insist that Funky Cold Medina is a Latino prostitute, a bit past being young and lovely, that has been rode hard, and put up wet.

It's a ficticious drink Tone Loc made up for his song Funky Cold Medina. Supposedly it would help a guy get laid. I'm sure some dickwad bartender in the late 80's made up some horrible drink just for the song.

OMG I haven't heard those words to that song since the 80's lol.I think it's a drink.Then why is it funky?Well we use to say Funky Fresh and dope go figure lol.I remember that was a Tone Loc song.If it's not a drink then it could be a stink cold man named medina lol.

Per the song, it's an aphrodisiac (check out the lyrics). There's also an alcoholic drink (equal parts vodka, southern comfort, and blue curacao with a splash of cranberry juice over ice) by the same name, but it's my guess that the drink post-dates the song.

Tone Loc was a little cryptic. Medina is a Moslem holy city, but I think that he just found a groove and a good sounding chant - nice nonsense. He was a trickster!
He was also a computer programmer!

A drink supposed to work like spanish fly. Spanish fly was an urban legend...it was supposed to be a drug, when put in your drink, would make you want to have sex like crazy. there's no such thing. Viagra maybe...but, no spanish fly.
