to treat others with respect, to demand respect in return. To love truly, deeply, passionately and without reserve. To never miss a chance to tell someone how I feel about them.

The old school principles of common sense, common courtesy and respect for my elders. Also; never try to solve a problem from an emotional standpoint or you'll never get out alive. Logic rules all. Improvise, adapt, overcome.

My 99 year old grandmother passed away on Aug. 7th. I watched her die. Her son, (my 69 year old father) followed one month later on Sept. 7th--one month before his 70th birthday, which would've been Oct. 7th. Talk about unlucky 7's. Then I had to run the family farm alone, as Dad and I farmed together. The most unforgettable year in my 25 years.

I work as a medical transcriptionist. I'll never forget the day I typed a pathology report on my brother, who was 34 at the time. He had cancer (a non-treatable type). I knew before his own doctor. It was horrible. I sat at my desk and cried and cried. He lived 18 months. Seeing my father cry is another thing I'll always remember. I'd never seen him cry before.

The first time my child said, "Momma" Brought tears to my eyes
and thinking about it still does. She is 15 now and trying to grow up way too fast. Soon she will be heading out the door to the
life that awaits her. I will cry that day too. It isn't easy being a mother.
