Unless you have a wireless and live in the range of someone who has a wireless modem.
It may cost a little more because you need a special modem if you want to use wireless.
Otherwise yes you pay for internet

Yes. You need a wireless router. Now unless you live in a community where houses are close together and someone is using wireless routers you can get internet without paying for it but wouldnt advise it. You still would need a wireless router.

Um, you pay for internet whether or not you use a desktop computer, laptop, or anything else for that matter. You pay as long as you have your account activated.

Laptops are connected to internet through wired or non-wired internet connection providers. I don't think there is any free internet connection providers.

some places have free wireless areas that you can connect to, my city library for example, is 100% free!
If you want internet at your home, you have to pay for it.
look in your phone book for a local DSL internet service provider (ISP)
