four straight bad losses now....
They won't make the playoffs.
I like the way all Red Sox fans say that there is 40+ games left in the season and the season isn't over yet....
This was a key 5-game series against the Yankees and they absolutely blew it....what an embarassament for them and their fans. They had the opportunity and all 5 games were at FENWAY!!!
Playoffs? No way....they won't catch the Yankees and will probably fall short a game or two in the wild card race.
This season they will be always saying they will pick up a game in the standings tomorrow.... but eventually the tomorrow's will run out and their season will be over.

The four games in New York on the third weekend in September are the last games between the two this year.
Here's what each has left after today:
Boston
A22-24 @LA Angels
A25-27 @Seattle
A28-30 @Oakland
A31-S3 Toronto
S4-6 Chicago
S8-10 Kansas City
S12-14 @Baltimore
S15-17 @New York (DH on S16)
S19-21 Minnesota
S22-25 @Toronto
S26-27 Tampa Bay
S29-O1 Baltimore
New York
A22-24 @Seattle
A25-27 @LA Angels
A29-31 Detroit
S1-3 Minnesota
S4-6 @Kansas City
S8-11 @Baltimore
S12-14 Tampa Bay
S15-17 Boston (DH on S16)
S18-20 @Toronto
S22-25 @Tampa Bay
S26-28 Baltimore
S29-O1 Toronto
And, yes, the Red Sux are finished. And I'd love to know how the White Sox are "choking" since they've knocked 4 1/2 games off of Detroit's appearingly insurmountable lead.

I'm not a fan of them, but it's way too early to write them off. Catching the Yankees will be difficult, but all it's going to take is for the Sox to get hot while the Yankees have a losing streak. The big question mark is their pitching, especially the extremely shaky Josh Beckett and that bullpen. If those two can't straighten things out, then they're done.
The wildcard is a more likely possibility, but they'll need help from the Central teams in beating the White Sox and Twins.

Nope, The Red Sox are not finished. Anything can happen between now and the next time these two teams meet.
As a Yankee fan I know it's not over until one of the two teams is mathematically eliminated.

They still have 4 games vs. each other, but they have to keep winning against other teams in order to make those 4 games worth anything. Don't worry, judging by the way the ChiSox are choking (and the Twins will come back to Earth) I think its very possible for the Redsux to capture the wildcard.

The Red Sox are done, for now. Although who knows what can happen the next time they meet. All I know now is I can’t wait to have the Yankees here @ Anaheim this weekend; they’ll take care of the Angels too. This week won’t go by fast enough. It will be what I feel, is the perfect weekend prior to the first day of school, YES!!!! What more could I ask for, except you joining me. Would you like to come with Me.?

"It ain't over till its over!" some one once said.......when the season is over and only then....the Sox are too good of a team to give up now...they will bounce back....maybe starting in a couple of hours with David Wells on the mound......maybe the "Massacre" could be reversed in NY with those 4 remaining games together.....but their pitching is really hurting....no one even the mighty Yankees can win without it....remember 1978 and also remember the Philllies in the early 60's...their "choke" was worse then the '78 Red Sox......don't ever rule out a big time rivalry like the Yanks-Soxs.........GO YANKEES!!! STINKIN RED SOX!!

well, that little Yankee puppet just b*tch-slapped the entire Red Sox Nation. 4 GAMES!!!! The Red Sox have the toughest schedule remaining out of all MLB teams. They have absolutely no chance.
Get your brooms out. Its gonna be 6 1/2 after today.
