Because they have their heads up their asses. Now I'm not saying that mocking those people is right or courageous, but liberals have this mundane attitude that its okay to mock our own people but not people from other countries or their customs. They need to start thinking about the people here first and stop playing pity trip with the Islams.

"Courageous Liberals?"

Do we live in such a country where no one can be level-headed anymore, where everyone needs to be in the polar split of being reactionary, biblethumping Conservative, or baby-eating Liberal?

The reason we don't mock Islam is because to do so would outrage quite a lot of people. Just like whenever ANYONE criticizes Christianity in any way shape or form, everyone gets completely defensive, it's the same with Islam.

Actually... it's not.
It's a very specific and very grave and overall BAD thing
to mock Mohammed to islamists..... because to do so would
be to also indrectly give a face to a person..... which indrectly idolizes the person. Islam wasn't about Mohammed, Islam was about the ideas he put forth. And one of the central tennets is to keep all idolotry far, far away from the religion.

Just look at their art.
Their most religious icons are all geometric designs, not a single depiction of any person or event..... it's not at all the same as it is with Christianity.

There are billions of Christians, there are also billions of Islamists..... it's in no one's best interest to piss off the entire whole of them.... just so we can by proxy piss off a small sect of religious extremists.

I have said for years that religion (especially monotheism- Judaism, Islam, Christianity) is the source of the world's problems. Not until a new philosophy is introduced that guides mankind by reason, equality & justice will there be peace on earth.

All the conflict in the Middle East is over mythical beings that DO NOT exist yet these beings have engaged in mythical land grants that are defended as though they are real.

When irrational religion dies, these irrational conflicts dissolve into thin air.

Religion is a psychosis- a mental cancer- that is harming the world, perhaps beyond repair.

That's the cons job...spread hate, fear, and propaganda to rally support around an illegal war. It's the rest of our job to try and find a solution that WILL work. When you start investigating the enemy, trying to learn everything about the enemy, rather than blindly hating, you are considered a sympathizer by the right. Believe me, if you don't understand the enemy. you will never be victorious.

Because christians and jesus are so much more fun to mock. Why do the conservitive richt always have to be haters? Why do they support crappy leaders like Bush? You guys should have voted for McCain and then this country would be in better shape.

Because mocking isn't courageous. Trying to understand what you are afraid of is.

Because we don't feel the need to mock others who have different beliefs than we do. We tend to be open-minded and live and let live. I pretty much tolerate anything but intolerance.

I do not "mock" anyone except narrow minded people who continue to spew hate and discontent.
