Its a natural thing! i should say, its a course of nature. People were born in different situations, cultures, environment, and needs. As long as there is social imbalance there is crime. an increase in crime is correlated in social imbalance and social injustice.

Everyone wants to mind their own business and nobody wants to confront criminals. We have been conditioned into being passive people. Thus when criminals do their dirty work, we immediately respond by cowering or looking the other way.

We are often told that money, jewelry, and other posessions are not worth risking our lives for, which is true, however, sometimes it is a matter of priniciple. When someone pulls out a gun the first thing we want to do is give them everything we have without even finding out what it is that the criminal wants.

I believe that it is due to the breakdown of society in general. The family unit with two parents is almost a thing of the past. Drugs are an easy way to make a lot of money and kids are turning to selling drugs as a way to obtain expensive items that just didn't exsist 20 yrs. ago.
