That's interesting ,I am from German ancestry and i live in AZ a little further south of that demographic line I see in the last map of the US.I would have thought with a guess it would have been England, and it looks like I would have been wrong.Thank you for that information.
I take exception to the answer that all people with the last name ending with son are all Swedish, there are countless African Americans with the last name of Watson and they are not Swedish nor were there any Swedish slave owners to my knowledge,( I could be wrong on this about there being no Swedish slave owners) I don't recall ever seeing in my history books any reference to that .

NO, but there were tons of immigrants from Germany from prior to the Civil War (American) to WWII. Most of those people were farmers and setteld in the midwest. There are also tons of Swedes, Danes and Norweigians from this tiem period as well.

Perhaps way back from the Teutonic tribes. That would be white Americans. "Most Americans" in this century are a mixture of races, some don't know their backgrounds nor do they care.

According to that map, yes, but they seem to have forgotten about Sweden. Everyone with a lastname that ends with "son" is of Swedish ancestry.

Well, I cannot speak for most Americans, but my roots are from England and Ireland. I also have quite a bit of Indian in me from both sides of my family.

No, I think it was primarily the English who came over here in Columbus's day.
