Try Misco they have a good computer if you already have one and it's past it sell by date. This one is just over £150 and has a CD writer and is very basic. No monitor or operating system - but maybe you already have those. They have more to choose from. Look for cheap deals at the big stores like Comet. I got a great laptop for £700 at Comet. But XP home and Works 8 were preinstalled - nice laptop - shame about the pre-installed Microsoft stuff. On Outlook Express the spell checker didn't work. It usually uses the spell checker on office and apparently Works 8 doesn't have a spell checker. After 8 goes at getting this suite of programs right - you'd think Microsoft would have given it a spell checker. The 100 gig hard drive sounds good until you realise part is partitioned as back up for the preinstalled stuff. Exactly what is preinstalled is still a mystery. Sonic came with it - but is that backed up to the partition. Instructions in 20 lanuages - tell you how to plug it in and switch on! LOL

The things you can't upgrade on a desktop is the processor and motherboard, but in many cases it's cheaper to buy a new computer instead of upgrading. Computers are becoming disposable. You can find specs for different types of computers at http://www.comprec.com

I can recommend www.ebuyer.com They are the best specified and value for money I have seen and the after sales is extremely good. If you want to upgrade in the future avoid Dell like the plague. They use non standard components that only fit Dell machines and are a nightmare to upgrade as standard parts will not fit. If not I can build you one.

Dell has inexpensive computers I have found reliable. Go with Pentium D CPU and it should be upgradable otherwise.
