I know this is the trivia section but in some situations like in Quimby Down Under, when the native Aborigine ran ahead and set the field on fire that was a fire with fire situation. Sorry for the serious answer, couldn't think of something silly.
well when something's been burnt it can't burn anymore.

99 Times out of ten, that's how wildfires are fought- "burning out", and backburning, gobble up fuels between the constructed fireline and the active fire. By doing this, the headfire has no more fuel to feed it, and it lays down. Drip torches, fuzees, DAIDs, Berry pistols, propane torches, Mark-26 Ping Pong Ball machines,... choose yer poison.

actually in wild fires, using fire works great, start a backing fire at your fire line, let it burn back to the head fire and watch the fire lay down and get contained, it is amazing when it works.
