At 7 months, formula or breast milk should be his main source of nutrition. Solid foods, at this point, are just for practice and to get his digestive system ready for normal food. He is probably not interested in the formula because he is too full on jarred food. Be sure to always try and give him a bottle before feeding. If he is hungry, he will drink it! He should be drinking between 26oz and 32oz a day. I've had the same problem with my daughter, as she doesn't have much of an appetite. I always had to give her small amounts at a time, several times a day in order to get her to drink the recommeded amount of formula. Does he drink from a sippy cup yet? If not, try giving him one with formula. Maybe he is just tired of the bottle, not the formula...Also, be sure to mix all of his rice/oatmeal/or any other food with formula. This will easily add 4-6oz a day without him having to drink anything. If he still refuses to drink his formula, then his diet should be as nutritionaly dense as possible. Try feeding him some natural home-made foods instead of the jarred. Some good real easy ones are avacado, banana, cottage cheese, plain yogurt....Here is a good site on how to prepare and puree your own baby food. You should also consult your pediatrician. He/She can offer some more advice and maybe offer some iron supplements or baby vitamins.

my son is doing the same thing. he is 7 and a half months old and really doesnt like his formula. He has been on allimentum since he was five days old. The doctor gave us the ok to change to a different soy formula. The isomil he threw up like the fountain of youth and we tried prosobee and he would not drink it. He eats cereal for breakfast, a jar or more for lunch but usually just a jar, and a jar for dinner. My doctor told me we could try giving him yogurt and cheese now. He loves the yogurt so we give him one at night for his snack. I have not tried cheese yet. I dont know what to do about the formula but at his last visit my doctor said that beings he is eat solids well he needs no more then 16oz of formula a day. If he drinks more then fine. I hope this helps you.

He should still be drinking 24-32 oz of formula a day. Sounds like he is eating too much solid food. The formula is very important in keeping him hydrated and keeping him regular in terms of bowel movements.

Best is to talk to your pediatrician. My daughter is 11 months old, has 3 meals of solids a day plus a snack and still takes 32+ oz a day of formula. I nursed her until 7 months (when I became pregnant and my milk dried up) so she wasn't started on solid food until 6 months.

okay here is a answer just for you i go through wic at the health dept. and it says on thier hand out this is what your baby should be eating and drinking in a day. at seven months old 6 to 8 oz a day of formula. 4 to 5 feedings a day. baby cereal is 4 to 8 tablespoons or more per day. vegetables. 4 to 8 tablespoons a day. fruits 4 to 8 tablespoons a day. meats 1 to 6 table spoons a day. fruit juice 100%2 to 4 oz a day water 4 to 8 oz of water a day. if your baby is eating good i really wouldnt worry to much as long as he is getting formula or if it gives you comfort go by what i gave you it came from wic. good luck.

He should be eating around 6-8 ozs each bottle and at least 3 bottles a day... he is probably more interested in the food than milk..

funny... my son is 6 1/2 months and he is not drinking as much as he should too.he drinks 16 ounces now but should have 32. 4 ounces is really low. i would check the top of his head where the two bones aren't fused yet. check to see if it is really indented. if it is then it means he is dehydrated.
i know by that age you are suposed to change the formula anyways to accomodate their changing bodys.
defanately talk to a doc but in the mean time check his head for indention and try to give him fluids like juice wattered down. or water and maybe cut down his baby food so he isnt so full and he'll drink more.

If he's hungry provide him somewhat greater formula, yet in basic terms a million ounce at a time. do no longer placed cereal in his bottle. His digestive gadget is to immature to deal with any sturdy foodstuff top now. Wait till he's a minimum of five months previous previously you do introduce any solids.

the problem may be that he is having too much baby food. if he has too much, he may jsut not be hungry for the formula... try giving him only half a meal and ending it witha bottle...
it may also be that he needs a formula change, (you cna buy small single clans of formula... so if you try a few different brands, you coudl find one he likes.
it may also be if you are giving him alot of fruits, that he may jsut liek the sweetness.... try limiting the amout of fruit that he gets for a few days and see if that helps any
other wise the only other option would be to contact your pediatrician, or nutritionist.
good luck
