It starts as 1024 bytes = 1 kilo bytes

1024 kb = 1 mega bytes

1024 mb = 1 giga bytes

1024 gb = 1 ter bytes

The progression is going that way since we are counting in binary system as opposed to decimal system.. So 1024 = 2 raised to 10.
