I live in the Charlotte Metro Area in North Carolina.
The cheapest I've seen gas where I live is $2.84 per gallon. Avergage price is $2.87-2.89 per gallon. The most expensive I've seen is $2.99 per gallon. (Unleaded prices).

You don't want to know!
Where I live (Spain) a gallon costs around $ 5.00 and this is one of the cheapest countries in Europe for gasoline.
So, maybe you should stop complaining in the States.
