are you directly connected with city water or do you have a well?? It can make a big difference in what type of system and price you gonna have to pay. Are we talking about a system for only drinking water or the entire house system. I live in Central Florida and the city water uses too much chlorine and ammonia which tends to melt the rubber in the toilet flush/pump system. You can use a cheap system like "Brita" if you want to get rid of the aftertaste of the drinking water. They are so many options! Check-in your local yellow pages and get at least 3 estimates. can't say what to use right off ,but I can warn you against ionizers and alkalizers (very expensive and scientifically proven useless)
