Flora in Gir National Park
Flora in Gir National Park can be looked in four ways. The first is the Teak forest, which covers nearly half of the protected area. The main tree species here are Khair, Sadad, Timru, Babul, Amla, Moledi, Dhavdo, Kadayo and Bahedo. The remaining forest, the non-teak forests, comprise of tree species like the Khair, Dhavdo, Sadad, Timru, Amla, Moledi, Kadayo, Salai, Simal, Khakhro, Ber and Asundro.
The vegetation in Gir found along the main rivers and streams comprise of species like the Jamun, Umro, Vad, Kalam, Charal, Sirus and Amli. Finally, Prosopis and Casuarina have been planted in the coastal border as part of the aforestation plan.
Gir forest supports rich vegetation with the density decreasing from west to east coinciding with the rainfall pattern.

Emblica officinalis, Terminalia crenulata, Tamarindus indica,Vitex nigundu, Helicteris isora, Ficus racemosa, Jamun.
Thorn Scrub Forest
Acacia nilotica, Acacia catechu, Acacia leucophloea, Aegle marmalos, Zizyphus sps, Balanites aegyptica, etc.
Savannah
Acacia sps. Grasses like Sehima nervosum, Dicanthium Annulatum, Cymbopogon, Chrysopogon, Apulda mutica,Heteropogon, Aristida etc.
How to Reach Gir National Park
Sasan is 100kms from Diu, 160 kms from Porbander and 160kms from Rajkot. All three points are connected by air.
An ideal connection from Mumbai ( the nearest metropolis) is Mumbai - Diu by air, Diu to Sasan by road ( 2 hours), Sasan to Porbander by road( 2 1/2 hours) and Porbander to Mumbai by air.
Keshod is the closest airfield (70 kms) but is currently closed.
Train and bus services are also available and Junagadh and Veraval are the usual start points.
The roads in Gujarat are average and average driving speed is 50 kms/hour for most parts.
