Here's the scoop dude... your recharging system will only charge a battery so far. If it's "really dead"... it may start. For starters... take a look at your battery and see what the install date is compared to how many months your battery is rated for... it may not be your battery. Your best bet after this is to go to a garage and ask them to test your recharging system (if you don't own a multimeter)... they should do it for free. If you have access to a multimeter.... email me and I'll walk you through it.

You NEED to get the battery AND the alternator/electrical system checked by a tecnician. If the alternator is NOT working eventually the charge will run down and you 'll be stranded... If the battery is broken (shorted or whatever) it'll never keep it's charge. Clean the battery posts with a wire brush and some water. Rinse hands and clothing VERY well if soiled by the dust in the battery or acid. BE CAREFULL.

Take it to Wal-Mart or other shop and have them do a draw test on the battery and check the alternator. They will usually do it for free when you buy a battery from them.
Also, A short will drain your battery. But, most likely it is the battery. Considering the hot summer we've had....40 yrs Master Tech

buy a new battery, no matter how much the alternator charges it a dead battery wont hold a charge and you will just have to jump it again tomorrow.

As long as the battery is still good you should be able to jump it once and it will be fine. However if it's not fine, most batteries have a 7 year warranty, so just go trade yours in if you think you need a new one.

it should be ok-- depends on the age of the battery-- they have a 5 year lifespan, or if it does not stay charged, and the battery is relatively new, you caould have a bad alternator
