In terms of popularity:
Aida
La Boheme
The Flying Dutchman
I Pagliacci
Madam Butterfly
these are the ones that seem to be performed the most, and they are all wonderful, but there are many others:
Die Valkyr (The Valkyrie)
The Rest of Wagner's Ring Cycle
almost any Puccini, Verdi, or Mozart
Tristan and Idoldt
This could take a long time--enjoy! B.

It's not really an opera but a musical. I liked Fiddler on the Roof. I saw it live at the Fox Theater in Detroit.
The people who put it on where very talented. They were the same people that did the movie.

Apart from the ones listed , maybe you would like to try the finest opera ever written in English. "Peter Grimes" ( Benjamin Britten )

Anything by, Puccini, Verdi, or Mozart.
La Boheme and La Traviata seem to get more stage time than many others,,, and Aida, is another I've enjoyed.
