You will have to look up your particular model of phone to get the exact steps but I have to do this for mine.

For the Motorola E815:
Make sure both the bluetooth headset and the phone are at max. charge.
Go into your menu, go to settings, go to connection, then "locate" your bluetooth headset, once it is found you click connect..... you should be able to use the bluetooth headset then. You will have to go through the same step and exit this mode if you want to use just the phone w/o the bluetooth headset (if your headset is within range).

depends on which model

for motorola v3x, just turn on the bluetooth under the connectivity menu. if you want others to find you, click on "find me". if you want to send stuff over bluetooth, just go to, say, a picture, for example, and send via bluetooth. for more details, please consult your manual.
