No, I never did witness such an act. I recall seeing some anarchists burning a flag on television and they just looked like airheads. They wouldn't know how to make a political statement if their life depended on it. I respect the flag as I think most Americans do. All the talk about changing the law every year is just grandstanding and I wish the members of the House and Senate would use their time more wisely because we have many real issues that concern this country.

I have never seen a flag burned, nor do I know anybody who has. However the act has great boogey man symbolic value for the Republicans so they find it useful to make a big show of working hard in Congress to prohibit it. And the masses eat it up like flies on sheet. The Republicans know their supporters well, they are all into appearance and not at all into reality. The irony is that in flag etiquette, the single PROPER way to dispose of an American flag is........to burn it.

I have never seen one and its probably a good thing. I hate that kind of sh*t! Look at how many people have died through the years to keep that flag flying. You should respect that and what it stands for, like your sick and twisted ideas. Yes, even though I don't like it you have the right to burn the flag. Maybe next time you light one up you will think about why you are able to without being shot or thrown in jail. Its a right that the people that have died for this country have fought to keep. Maybe you will feel bad after reading this? I doubt it, thats ok, I'll enjoy my freedom. Hope that you can too without a guilty conscious.

I have seen one by protesters outside of a military base where I was stationed in the 90's. It literally disgusted me.

I have also seen the flag burning ceremony to retire a worn and aged flag. This made me proud.

There's a lot of flag burners
Who have got too much freedom.
I want to make it legal for policemen to beat 'em.
'Cause there's limits to our liberties.
'Least I hope and pray that there are.
'Cause those liberal freaks go too far.

Hmmm..But why can't we just make a law against flag burning? Because that law would be unconstitutional. But if we changethe Constitution... Then we could make all sorts of crazy laws.

I saw many burned during the demonstrations against the Vietnam debacle. As long as George Bush is using the flag as toilet paper, it should be allowed to be burned in protest to the Iraq debacle.
