The issue is more the skin above the water...and that it seems you can get a more severe burn when on the water than on land...and when swimming, rarely is all of you submerged all the time...

However I don't believe parts of the body deep enough underwater will tan...I guess the UV rays don't affect us there...

Nope. The water reflects the sun giving an all over tan.

If your in the water but partially submerged, the sun reflects off the water to increase tans, and burns, but i dont know about under

no thats not true actully when ur in the water ur more prone to get burnt because the sun relects on the water or something. which is why u should always buy water proof sunscreen altho these days most sunscreens are water proof

No, the suns rays travel through water, and are in fact intensified by water, like sun going through a magnifying glass.

most ppl tan or burn whilst inthe water due tothe reflection of the water . so ur statement would be false.

you will still tan when you are exposed to the sunlight no matter if you are under or above the water....
