Are there any women here who have suffered from a loss of libido from taking birth control? How did you deal with it? Are there any women who found ways to cope with it withOUT going OFF of birth control? Have people found that birth control that uses that different hormone (DSRVP? or something like that...) has a lower incident of causing lack of libido? Also, I experience an inability to become aroused... is that also part of this side effect?

It has been really difficult dealing with this and when I went to the doctor to discuss it, their only suggestion was to try family planning and my husband (and I) aren't willing to take that much of a chance with getting pregnant. What should I do????

I've been on Depo-Provera (the shot you get every 3 months), Orth-Evra (the patch), and now I'm using Nuva Ring. All of which I have experienced this with. I have not tried the pill because I am 99 % positive that I will NOT remember to take it everyday!

I noticed one common factor that all of your birth control methods have: hormones. When you start messing with your hormone levels, it seems to be way too easy for a variety of things to go wrong in your system. Personally, I have experienced symptoms ranging from glucose intolerance to perimenopause (at 25 years old!), just from the shot and certain varieties of the pill.

While it didn't work out well for me as an option, I would still highly recommend that you look into the Paragard (copper IUD). It is a very effective NON-hormonal birth control. It would give your body a chance to recover it's natural levels of hormones while provided that protection against pregnancy. There may possibly be a few other non-hormonal options out there, but I haven't found them yet myself.

Also, it is my understanding that all of the methods that you mention having tried tend to be very high in progesterone and low on estrogen. If the IUD doesn't work out for you, you may have to switch to a pill that has a different balance of hormones. So far, Yasmin seems to be working well for me, although I haven't been on it long enough to tell for sure. I, too, was scared of doing the pill thing, because I NEVER remember. My solution for that was to set a daily recurring alarm on my cell phone, and carry the pills in my wallet. Every day, at the same time, that alarm goes off, and since I never go anywhere without my phone and wallet, I always take it on time. It's worked for about 4 months now, so hopefully, it will keep working!

the problem is two way, i think. it not only affects your libido, but also gives additional worries. again, its the way a woman is boult that works on the system and causes the medicinal effects to react with the body leading to low libido. every woman's physical needs and ways are different. so it cannot be said that its the pills affecting. libido also depends upon how ur body reacts to your husband's. but if you have a very sizzling chemistry between you, then its obviously the medications that is affecting you.
you get pills that can be taken once a week or so, and also if you miss the pills that are meant to be taken everyday, yet they can be taken together -upto three days' dose together. check them out with your gynae.
i suggest you not to try the family planning right now, because it will age you too soon... well thats what i believe and so have not done!
all the best!

I definately felt a big loss of libido when I went on the pill. It came back after a while. The way I dealt with it is just really thinking about sex. Thinking about certain things that I knew would spark my interest helped.

the suitable element you're able to do is to hunt for suggestion from including your gynecologist. He/she would be able of tell you all your thoughts. I had the same concern with start administration and opted for VCF (Vaginal Contraceptive action picture). It includes Nonoxynol-9 (spermicide). It includes no hormones, so there are no longer any section outcomes like with the pill/ patch/ Depo. it somewhat is a small sq. action picture (looks like those Listerine breath movies), and you will possibly desire to insert it in the vagina (in basic terms like a tampon), as on the threshold of the cervix as achieveable. you're able to desire to put in in a minimum of quarter-hour previously intercourse and it final as long as 3 hours. It disolves without mess, has no scent, you may no longer experience it and my husband says it has no style the two. VCF claims to be ninety 4% helpful. i'm great fertile and that i used it for extremely almost a 300 and sixty 5 days certainly or section outcomes. achieveable section outcomes are vaginal inflammation. you will possibly desire to purchase it at Walgreens or CVS. over-the-counter, no Rx needed.
