This is an extremely broad question, there is no real answer to this question, there is such a diversity of living creatures in all these habitats that there is not real answer to each.
I guess I'll start with the sun........it is the power source (energy provider) for any ecosystem on the planet. Plants and phytoplankton (in aquatic systems) will collect energy from the sun and turn it into a source useable by other organisms, the organisms that do this are know as Producers.
In every environment, there will be some sort of herbivore (or zoolplankton in the case of aquatic systems), there must be one organism to collect the sun's energy, these are known as first level consumers. Animals that eat these consumers are known as second level consumers, and the list goes on.
The more complexe food chains, or more appropriate "food webs" can be found in the aquatic systems..this is due to the higher abundance of life and the greater biodiversity.
In a list of the most ecologically significant to the least, the list reads like this
Sea
Pond
Forest
Desert
This is a list of the order of importance and biodiversity within it.
I hope this gives you some information....but if you want some particular detail, then you really have to narrow the question down to a particular place, and better, to a particular organism, you cant ask what foods do animals eat in the sea, there are thousands of species found in the sea........the list would take three days to write.....it is not a practical question......if you ask, what do whales eat, then you have a descent question....
Hope this helps!
