I recently began taking morning power walks to try and take off a few pounds, Wednesday I go for a routine physical. I want to make sure that my blood pressure reading is accurate, should I skip my morning power walk? The appointment is for 3:30 PM. Would this type of exercise raise my blood pressure due to the increased heart rate etc.?

If you really want an accurate reading in the afternoon, sit still without moving for 20-30 minutes directly before the reading, this only works if the pressure is taken where you are sitting, if you get up and walk into an exam room, its a waste of time. Second, no eating, drinking, smoking, chewing gum, or anything for 30-45 minutes before the reading. But, in reality, no can do these things while at the doctor's office. So, have fun, and go for the walk.

Your blood pressure will level out as soon as you stop the higher heart rate. You will be fine taking your walk in the morning and then going to you doc appt. FYI... Most of the time when you raise your heart rate also known as your pulse your blood pressure will go down because your heart is pumping blood move quickly so there isn't a need for the higher pressure.
