Are there any women here who have suffered from a loss of libido from taking birth control? How did you deal with it? Are there any women who found ways to cope with it withOUT going OFF of birth control? Have people found that birth control that uses that different hormone (DSRVP? or something like that...) has a lower incident of causing lack of libido? Also, I experience an inability to become aroused... is that also part of this side effect?

It has been really difficult dealing with this and when I went to the doctor to discuss it, their only suggestion was to try family planning and my husband (and I) aren't willing to take that much of a chance with getting pregnant. What should I do????

I've been on Depo-Provera (the shot you get every 3 months), Orth-Evra (the patch), and now I'm using Nuva Ring. All of which I have experienced this with. I have not tried the pill because I am 99 % positive that I will NOT remember to take it everyday!

We are both very young (only 21) so we are *not* going to get a vasectomy! (Not to mention we don't have the money for it anyway!)

The best thing you can do is to consult with your gynecologist. He/she can tell you all your options. I had the same problem with birth control and opted for VCF (Vaginal Contraceptive Film). It contains Nonoxynol-9 (spermicide). It contains no hormones, so there are no side effects like with the pill/ patch/ Depo. It is a small square film (looks like those Listerine breath films), and you must insert it in the vagina (just like a tampon), as close to the cervix as possible. You need to put in in at least 15 minutes before intercourse and it last up to 3 hours. It disolves with no mess, has no smell, you can't feel it and my husband says it has no taste either. VCF claims to be 94% effective. I am super fertile and I used it for almost a year without problems or side effects. Possible side effects are vaginal irritation. You can buy it at Walgreens or CVS. Over the counter, no Rx needed.

If you do not fool around then vasectomies are certain. They can take a small donation from your husband first to be sure he can have all the children he wants. They will keep it in the freezer and take it out when you or the next wife wants it.

Women are actually turned on by the possibility of pregnancy. Whether you want to believe this or not, it's psychologically true. Start to believe your birthcontrol is useless and even have him not make a production of the condom. Talk during sex as if you ARE trying to get pregnant.

This has proven in my own sex life during birthcontol use.
