If you want basic spiritual development, do searches on topics like meditation.

A number of practitioners of Transcendental Meditation (TM) have said publicly that they have found The Silva Method (TSM) to be better than TM for getting to a deep level of meditation quickly.
I have used TSM.
It works.

The above book provides the basics of TSM without having to spend hundreds of dollars in seminar fees.
Learn from Near Death Experience research. Spiritual growth boils down to increasing one's ability to love genuinely and deeply, as well as striving to live by The Golden Rule.

<< Life is very important because how we have lived our life largely determines how far we can go into the light. >>
From:
http://www.near-death.com/experiences/research24.html
Prayer is talking to God or The Light and meditation is listening to God or The Light.
Learn to do both daily.
Meditation and prayer are helpful but only for basic spirituality. People of basic spirituality ascend after death to the Mid Realms of Spirit, where the religious heavens reside.
To grow beyond the angels into Sainthood and eventually into God Realization, one must significantly increase one's selflessness and not just through physical acts.
http://members.aol.com/SolistAvadar/SevenPlanes.htm
The path to Sainthood and beyond is through the cultivation of positive emotion and selflessness. Selfless emotion is more important to growth than physical selflessness because selfless emotion is essentially love - which corresponds in the Spirit to the ability to Radiate Spiritual White Light.
So if you really want to spiritually progress and become a Co-Creator after you leave the flesh and return to The Light, you need to do all of the above plus learn how to use Heart Chakra Radiance (HCR) everyday. HCR is the most advanced approach to spiritual growth in existence. I've compared it with every other technique out there. No contest. None of the others even come close.
http://www.HeartChakraRadiance.com/
Many have used HCR on and off for years and continue to do so, and have progressed to very high levels. The cultivation of Humility or Non-Competitiveness, and Purity or Sexual Energy Only With Love, is very important in order to stay on a high spiritual level once it is achieved. Purity and Humility are the two pillars of spiritual stability.
Those who fall or retrogress out of a level of mastery always do so from either not developing adequate Purity and/or from not developing adequate Humility.
Gods (Elders) and gods (Magi) cannot complete with one another and they cannot be lusty if they expect to stay Co-Creators in The Light. They must remain Humble and Pure or they will retrogress.
Hey...I didn't make up the Universal Law.
I just try to live by it.
