Mine is where I was living with my roomate who was like a mom to me and it was cold and it didn't seem as though the furnace was on. So I went downstairs to fill the thing up with water, I left and went back upstairs. I never turned it back off. So water went flying everywhere out of the furnaces. All over the Christmas tree, my friend's daughter 's new leather coat that was for Christmas. The rugs were soaked.
Omg, I was so embarrassed. I thought I had freaking ruined Christmas for everyone, My roommate said hey crap happens.Nothing really got ruined and we caught it in time.
Still I felt like an asss.
So anything happened to make you never forget a particular Christmas Eve? Good, bad, awesome, the worse?

It was in 1972 and my dad had just died in September and about a week before Christmas my brother had a hernia attack and had to have surgery. Mom made us postpone Christmas until my brother came home from the hospital. I was only 16 and my little sister was only 6. The whole season sucked because it was terrible to see my sisters face on Christmas morning when Mom told her she couldn't have her presents for another two weeks. I thought Mom was mean for doing that. I was old enough to wait but my little sister should have gotten some of her presents.

Four years ago. My Mother had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in October. She was moved into the palliative care section of the hospital in mid December. The Doctor told us she was deteriorating quickly and only a miracle could save her. At 11:45 PM on Christmas Eve the hospital advised us she died.

I remember my husband bought us these three big air blowen snowmen for are front yard and they were gaint size! and so cute , each one had scarfs around their necks and they would light up at night ,the whole neighborhood really enjoyed them! well needless to say some smart butt came in the middle of the night and stoled them, all the cords were cut,and that was the end of that, but I believe they will surely reap what they sowed,I hope Santa leaves then a heep of coal !But one thing they couldn't steal was the Joy of the Lord in are hearts.....

Dad once seemed to think he shouldn't remember Xmas at all. He and two of his brothers drank liquor until they passed out...but not before embarrassing his relatives and Mom's. Once, he came home on Xmas Eve unconscious. Someone carried him in and put him to bed. He fell out and wandered into the living room. He opened a gift I bought for my sister and urinated in it. Next morning, his older brother visited and grinned when Dad saw his shoes and socks were wet and couldn't understand why. That brother passed out in a chair in his family living room later, as all of his relatives stared. Dad went home and sat down to eat with Mom's relatives and my sister and her husband. He took a bite and jumped up. He vomited on his way out. Mom dreaded Xmas, for it was the same thing every time.

Mine was the first year that we opened presents on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning and I received my GI Joe Cobra Hiss tank. I was so excited that I didn't sleep that night anyway so it didn't matter when you opened presents - you still didn't sleep.
