A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of online courses which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

Well, I guess everyone has different ways of learning a language... What helped me was reading a lot of books, newspapers and magazines. That way you will definitely expand your vocabulary AND enjoy it, since you will be the one to choose whatever you want. Anything from 'Harry Potter' to 'The razor's edge', from the New York Times to Elle is good, just pick something you like! Also you could try watching DVDs without subtitles, or maybe with english subtitles at first...

Read more difficult books with hard vocabulary words, but watch out when reading older books. Reading Paradise Lost, for example, would definitely boost your vocabulary, but the way some things are worded just isn't the way people talk nowadays. If you don't understand the more difficult books, start with easier books and work your way up.

Read. The best advice I can give you is to read books. Statistically, it's shown to make your grammar and spelling better, improve your vocabulary, and (of course) improve your reading comprehension.
It's best to read challenging books, but it can be hard to keep up the habit of reading if you only read difficult things, so try to find a balance between easy-to-read fun books and difficult but more worthwhile books.
