How do I change the settings so that when I want to add text it doesnt over write what I have already written?

You have pressed your 'Insert" button on your keyboard. Press it again and it will stop overwriting what you've already written.

Check your Word window.
If at the bottom you can see the characters OVR in black then press the Insert key. The letters OVR become grey and you can insert text instead of Over writing the text.

you have to press the insert key if this happens, that shoild make it stop. its in the middle of the keyboard.
