Muslims wouldn't dare, its one thing to pick at the USA through hard to find mini-teams of insurgents, a full on battle would allow the USA to use the majority of their big bombs, the kind that decimate 9 square city blocks, bombs like the MOAB.

These countries would have their militaries decimated.

Remember the formal war in Iraq was over in a few days, its only the insurgents we're dealing with now.

A large scale war against the USA by technologically backwards muslims would be the last thing muslims want to do.

yes of course. However, it would be an interesting test of reality: Would Iran's allies honor the age old treaties and face certain economic and political damage in the course of the war?

Iran may be able to survive the way Lebanon did against Israel: through guerilla strikes and backyard tactics.

In my opinion, the countries that would support Iran are Russia, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, China, North Korea, and Cuba. Not exactly friendly foes...

Iran is important to both China and Russia. That's why everyone was spewing the WW3 rhetoric a few weeks ago, because it looked like the Iran was going to attack Israel, and the US would back them up, which would then lead to China and Russia getting involved. I seriously doubt that China and Russia would want to get into a war which would assure mutual destruction of them and US over Iran's supposed right to destroy Israel.

Russia and N Korea. Both are countries known for their mainstream ideas about world politics. Both have leaders who just want to sit back and leave the world alone and not force their ideals on others. And Larry Bird is a more talented dunker than Michael Jordan.
