i don't care wether you think its imoral, but would like to know why polygamy is illegal (imoral is not a valis reason to me)

It's illegal because marriage is a legal act, that deals with property and children parental recognition. The purpose of marriege is to recognize that people have rights and obligations, and a part of property, so how do think the family law should be complicated if the poligamy is legal?

It causes serious social issues. If roughly the same number of boys are born as girls, and each man marries 3 women, that means that 66% of men will go without a spouse. What happens to these men? Well, when they're about 15 or so, they get kicked out of the community by those in power. Usually the men in polygamous societies have a lot more than 3 wives, so most boys get screwed over and told to find their own life.

I would like to know why it's illegal, too, but the law is based on morals, with the belief that marriage be man+woman, not man+woman+woman, etc.
When I was younger, I thought polygamy would be cool, but as I got older I realized that I can barely handle one wife. I'd be insane by now (or dead) with more than one wife.
