The latest I know of is Hall Effect Thrusters being used as propulsion systems on small Russian and American satellites... Of course that's been around since the 70's

There is probably a new application every day but nothing earthshaking.
I find it amazing that Hall Effects embedded in a motor can resolve the precise location of an armature spinning at thousands of RPM. This information can be used by a microprocessor to send speed and position corrections to the motor controller before the motor rotates another degree.

It is used in probes by Vernier to measure force. The force pulls on a magnet which is near a ribbon with current in it, the voltage diff. between the sides of the ribbons is directly related to the distance of hte magnet and thus the force applied. Pretty cool application.

The Hall Effect is used for detecting magnetic fields and is used to count revolutions of a rotating shaft with a magnet on it, measure magnetic fields, measure current by measuring the magnetic field produced, determine the position of a rotating shaft by measuring the field of a permanent magnet mounted on it.
