The now infamous meteorite with fossil evidence from Mars was shown to be abiotic. So, no, there is now evidence for life on Mars. However, we have lots of good evidence for running water on Mars (the blueberries), so the possibility of life is there.

The Martina meteorite fragment removed from the ice near the North Pole shows evidence of organic process, so yes, it looks like a very long time ago, Mars had - at least - a very simple type of life form on it. It may still have such organisms, living a very subtle type of life, down in the pores of moist rock.
We have similar very unremarkable life-forms here, living in very cold, inhospitable places, growing very, very slowly but stubbornly. Don't expect a conversation with anything Martian anytime soon!

Yes Mars has had lifeforms in the form of bacteria. It also had an atmosphere smilier to earth's before a cataclysmic force ripped it away.
