We can ask "why" because we, as human beings, are capable of seeing the relationship between cause and effect. Thus, when we see or experience something, we "know" that it must have been the consequence (the result or effect) of something else (an action, a circumstance, or whatever) and we might want to know what that was. Therefore we ask "why".

"Why?" is not a specific question. It requires a corresponding information whether before or after the tag "why". Like the question you just asked, there is a specific information after the tag "why", giving the questionee a clue whether what reason or specific answer you need to know. So, logically speaking, based on your question, it seemed liked you've concluded that WE CAN REALLY ask "why?". But it's not, because, generally, for an educated person, or someone who's truly intellectual, he would rather ask a question about needing to seek for a reason much more specifically. I say, your question do not deserve to be answered.

Because it is in our nature to learn more about oneself and the world around us. Without "why," we could never gain the most important things we know today. Science, Arts and Humanities were brought about from strong feelings of why. It is just how the world is.

People begin asking why when they're small children.. I've always encouraged it..
Who told you can't ask why, and why did they say that...
When we stop stop asking why, why does this work, why doesn't this work, why why why.. I think we stop.. period. Get my meaning.. So go ahead and ask all your whys..
