I'm talking about anybody you might have known in your life, living or now deceased, friends, neighbors, distant relatives. Maybe even famous people you have just read about. Truthfully, did this possibility ever cross your mind?

Thank you for your answers so far. It only recently occurred to me. I'm one of these characters that usually had always thought of nearly everyone [else] as straight, just by default.

Sure, of course. While many more people today are choosing the single life, and some people just never match up with anyone, I think that being gay is a major factor in singleness.

When I first really came out....I mean to most everyone, I was in my 30's. And I would think to myself...heck I'm 30-whatever, and never married, not involved with a woman, why did I have to TELL you that I'm gay? Now I realize there are many reasons people remain single...being gay and having marriage not be a legal option is only one of them.

Just because someone is straight does not mean they are marriage material. Some become clergy, some are picky, some have horrible habits and some get too scarred by a past love.

I did not marry until the age of twenty-nine. Straight. I felt I had to get to know myself first and have fun! So when I decided to get married, I was ready to share and get to know my partner. With out resentment or regrets.
