because people tend to think they dont miss appointments that way. But the truth is the mind (back of their head) still remembers that it is fast and have enough time left and still follow the same routine (miss their appointments or make it in the nick of time)

I put my wrist watch about 10 minutes faster than the actual time because, if I don't, the time becomes 10 minutes slower. I think it has something to do with the "bio-pulse", where the electro-magnetic impulses from the body's circadian system somehow affects the time on the wrist watch. My mother and wife have the same problem, except with my mother she has to set the time slower because her watch gains minutes. (This is true even with brand new batteries in the watch, and with digital wrist watches too.)

I don't like being late, so I keep the clock in my car a couple of minutes fast. That way, I know I'm absolutely fine if I get there "on time," and if running late I can "take comfort" in the fact that the clock is a little ahead.

Usually I just schedule in ways that keep me from rushing. The beauty of Treo.

most people who think they are non punctual do these things. They keep their clock a little bit faster than others (say 10-15 .mins).This is because when they see the clock for example if one wants to go to office he will see the time as 9 am, actually the time will be 8.45 am. he will get ready soon and maintain time and his punctuality. thats why! got it?

Most of such people are sadists. They think that they are punctual, but they are not. just to fool others around they keep the time a little fast and try to be punctual. They do nothing on dot. It is all pretending around and to keep people around think that they are very time concious.

by this they try to get the attention of the people around mostly the home folks, the friends, the collegues.

This is also a sort of phobea that has been suffered in their child hood. They might have been punished for not attending to the work in time.

this is only a personality posture, to capture the atttention of others.

My husband insists that we keep the alarm clock this way, and it drives me nuts. I think it makes him think he's speeding up, because if he gets ready by that clock, he's really got an extra 15 minutes. But it doesn't work, because I'm the one who gets up, and he lays there, while I should to him "Ed, it's 5:45!" Ed, it's 6:00," etc. every morning.

I know a lot of people that do that. They do it so that they will never be a second late. These are the people that are always on time even though they know that the time is fast.

I do this. I usually have my bedroom clock and my clock in my car about 3-5 min.faster.

This is one technique I use to prevent myself from running late.
I know it sounds sort of weird but it works.

I am one of those Anal/perfectionist type of people.

Being late is a pet-peeve of mine

perhaps because then they will never be really late for anything. So if they needed to be at work for 9am...and their watch was 10 minutes fast ,their watch would say 9 but it would actually be 8:50! its clever! :)
